Langley Lodge Barn

This Grade II listed 300-year-old threshing barn had been neglected for years. We restored and adapted the original timber frame into a new home, celebrating the exposed structure internally while preserving the building’s external character.

A mix of warm, private rooms and dramatic double-height spaces allows the historic timbers to be fully experienced. Carefully positioned windows and doors now connect the interior to the garden and wider views.

The roof and cladding were fully removed to apply a continuous layer of low-energy insulation. Around 6,000 reclaimed clay peg tiles were reused across the expansive roof—maintaining historic texture while upgrading the building for modern, low-energy living.
