This Grade II Listed barn conversion in the Cambridgeshire had an extensive planning history, with multiple previous refusals and unsuccessful appeals. After years of stalled progress, our client approached us to bring clarity and direction to a complex planning situation.

Rather than revisiting earlier schemes, we undertook a detailed review of the site’s planning history, heritage significance, and local planning policy. Our proposal was developed as a sensitive, conservation-led design, focused on retaining historic fabric, minimising intervention, and clearly justifying every architectural decision through high-quality drawings and supporting documentation.

Despite the site’s challenging past, we successfully secured planning permission and listed building consent at our first submission, bringing an end to years of planning battles. The Conservation Officer described the scheme as a “sensitive and considered design” and specifically praised the level of detail presented.
